Malaysia's Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures price changes at the producer level, continued to decline by 3.4 percent in April, official data showed Wednesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the mining sector was the main contributor to this decline of 17.8 percent.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector also dropped by 2.6 percent.
In contrast, the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector recorded a moderate increase of 2.6 percent.
The electricity and gas supply sector recorded a marginal decline of 0.6 percent, while the water supply sector registered a modest increase of 0.9 percent.
On a month-on-month basis, the PPI for local production decreased by 1 percent in April.
