According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the trade value of silk products in April was 160 million US dollars, falling 22.41% from the previous month and growing 8.54% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 144 million US dollars, falling 24.34% month-on-month and growing 10.06% year-on-year; the export value was 15.975 million US dollars, growing 0.75% on a monthly basis and falling 3.45% from the year earlier. 2. Silk products trade in Jan.-Apr.

The major sources of imports were China (304 million US dollars, down 2.31%, accounting for 50.4%), Vietnam (105 million US dollars, up 19.65%, accounting for 17.44%), Italy (41.4562 million US dollars, up 18.81% , accounting for 6.87%), Cambodia (30.4778 million US dollars, up 49.2%, accounting for 5.05%), Bangladesh (26.1019 million US dollars, down 1.75%, accounting for 4.33%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 84.09%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 0.8203 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 16.46%, with the quantity falling 35.3% to 9.22 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 41.6303 million US dollars, down 7.53% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 13.4211 million US dollars, a decrease of 8.02% YOY.
The major export markets were China (23.2484 million US dollars, down 0.48%, accounting for 41.61%), Vietnam (15.9921 million US dollars, up 2.6%, accounting for 28.62%), Thailand (2.2485 million US dollars, up 37.55%, accounting for 4.02%), Hongkong, China (2.0882 million US dollars, down 61.86%, accounting for 3.74%), Taiwan, China (1.7455 million US dollars, up 11.22%, accounting for 3.12%).
