ReturnLocal commerce authorities in China have stopped filing and registering foreign trade operators from December 30, in accordance with the revised law on foreign trade, the Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday.
The relevant authorities will no longer require market entities applying for certain certificates and qualifications to provide foreign trade operator filing and registration records. The certificates and qualifications in regard include import and export licenses, technology import and export contract registration certificates, quotas, and State-operated trade certificates.
"That is a major reform measure in the field of foreign trade management and an important institutional innovation for the Chinese government to firmly promote trade liberalization and facilitation," said an online statement from the ministry.
"It will help further optimize the business environment, unleash the growth potential of foreign trade, and promote high-quality trade development and high-level opening-up."
The ministry also said it is directing local commerce departments to navigate the transition, and well grasp the operation situations of foreign trade enterprises to improve government services.
It is also intensifying information sharing with other government departments to improve the analysis on foreign trade, enhance foreign trade policies and measures, promote upgrades of trade in goods, innovate development mechanism of services trade, and propel trade innovations and high-quality development, the ministry said.
