Sichuan Autumn Cocoon Production Meeting was held in Chengdu on July 9 this year. Leaders from sericulture section at defferent levels attended the meeting.
Although Sichuan was hit by the biggest earthquake as well as impacted by the financial crisis, the province has made joint effort and made some achievement at the first half year of 2009:firstly, the local government has achieved successful completion of production tasks, it yields the spring silkworm hybrid 1.5 million boxes in both spring and summer,7 perseng higher than target scheduled；secondly, cocoon yield quality keep stable upward Cocoon yield reaches 36kg per box, about 1 kg or 2.8% yield increase compared to same period last year.
The average cocoon production of spring is 36kg/1 which increase 1kg/1 than the same period of last year with an 2.8% increase. The reelable cocoon percentage and reelability percentage is up 5% ；thirdly, spring cocoon production amounts to 20,900kg, the purchase price of cocoon is 18yuan/kg, the income of silkworm farmers reaches 350 million yuan, which decreases at small degree, however, the integrated development of mulberry reaches 530 million yuan which increases obviously. The integrated spring sericulture production value is 880 million yuan in spring which keeps balance as last year.
At present, there are some problems on silkworm production which cannot be ignored: firstly, the silkworm distribute volume and cocoon output slide sharply. The distribute volume of spring cocoon is down 170,000 boxes to 500,000 boxes, a 22.7% decrease. It reaches 500,000 box which decrease 170,000 box at the same period of last year which is 22.7% decrease, according to the preliminary statistics, silkworm distribute volume in summer is 500,000 box with an decrease of 20%. Silkworm eggs with pebrine disease are certified more than before; thirdly, silkworm egg mills suffers from the tough period of production and operation for high cost and low price .
3.The arrangement of the next stage on the development of sericulture.
1) Local government should seize the current opportunity and mobilize the silkworm farmers to enlarge the quantity and benefit farmers.
2) Local government should pay high attention, give our support and management on the mulberry plantation.
3) Local government should continue to grasp the key link and implement the main technology.Small silkworm total fertility is the core, disease prevention is the focus, labor-saving raising is the guiding line, good cluster is the key to improve the quality.
4) Local government need to further develop and exploit both the cocoon and mulberry resources.
5) Local government should play an active role in constructing the modern agriculture industry.
