This week cocoon and silk prices continued to drop following the plummet of the previous week. White reeled filature price fell to the lowest of this year and ranged between 240,000 yuan and 263,000 yuan per ton. Accordingly, prices of some varieties of silk fabric, especially thick silk fabric, were affected and dropped due to the price fall of raw silk.
China silk association and national cocoon and silk coordination office held national working conference respectively this week.
In CCSE electronic market, dried cocoon and raw silk prices fell to the lowest point for three months on massive selling by speculators, analysts said. Key September dried cocoon hit lowest of 68600 yuan and closed at 70700 yuan per ton. Key September raw silk hit lowest of 212600 yuan and closed at 219200 yuan per ton.
