Chennai, Aug 14: Choosing a silk sari with an attractive combination of 'pallu' and 'body' is quite a challenge to women.
A garment house in the city has come to their aid with the introduction of 'zip-n-match' silk saris, which will enable women to change the pallu of their sari according to their tastes.
Sri Kumaran stores, which had earlier introduced innovations like colour-changing saris, pocket sari and 'jodi pattu' (embroidered silk saris with matching embroidered silk shirt and dhoti), launched the hand-woven pure silk saris with a set of interchangeable 'pallus' in matching yet different shades of colour.
P J Ravi, partner, Sri Kumaran stores, said four 'pallus'-- with intricate embroidery, attractive crystal work, stunning zari woven designs and a two-tone pallu -- would be provided along with each sari. A set of matching blouses would also be provided.
Women could choose a pallu of their taste and zip it on to come up with a unique trendy combination each time they wear the zip-n-match silk saris, he said.
The saris, in a wide a range of designs and colours, are available in prices upward of Rs 20,000. Collections in prices upward of Rs 9,000 onwards would be launched soon, he added.
