Srinagar, Aug 8: Government Silk Weaving Factory Workers?Union today came down heavily on the authorities for implementing VRS/GRS in the JK Industries.
In a meeting with Abdul Rashid Bhat, union president, in chair, the members said the growing rate of unemployment in the state was already a big challenge to the government. By implementing the VRS, it is adding to the numbers of unemployed persons in the state,?the union in a statement said.
On one hand the authorities are claiming to develop industry for creating job avenues for unemployed youth and on the other they are bent upon closing down the units, bringing hundreds of employees on the crossroads,statement quoted Bhat as saying.
He said the VRS/GRS would not only leave hundreds of employees jobless, but indirectly affect thousands of people who were dependent on them.
We have decided to launch an agitation against the authorities if our job security is threatened by VRS/GRS,the president said.
Meanwhile, the union has appealed to the state chief minister to personally intervene in the matter.
