Chennai, July 9: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Interior Karnataka and active over Coastal Karnataka.
Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Rayalaseema.
The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Kottigehara 16, Kammardi 14, Sirsi 13, Yellapura and Kiravatti 12 each, Linganamakki 11, Bhagamandala, Humchadakatte, Sakleshpura 10 each, Dharmasthala, Banavasi and Jayapura 9 each, Karkala, Belgaum Airport, Dharwad PTO and Ballupet 8 each and Mudibidre and Mani, Kollur, Koppa, Vadakara and Cannur 7 each.
The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Kozhikode Airport, Mundagod and Haliyal and Madikeri 6 each, Mangalore Airport, Talaguppa and Tyagarthi, Kozhikode and Irikkur 5 each, Mulki, Panambur, Puttur and Subramanya, Shirali, Shiggaon, Guttal and Ranebennur, Madapura and Trithala 4 each, Kundapur, Bhatkal, Haveri PTO, Haveri, Somwarpet, Hassan, Valparai, Perinthalamanna, Kasargod, Aluva and Paravur and Munnar (Idukki dt) 3 each, Special weather warning for public services: Moderate to rather heavy rain is likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at many places over all the districts of Interior Karnataka during next two days. Light to moderate rain is also likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep during the same period.
Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Karnataka during next 48 hours.
Forecast valid until Wednesday Morning: Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over Interior Karnataka and at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Rayalaseema.
