Iran:Iran set to produce 250 tons of silk annually

TEHRAN, June 18 (MNA) – An official of Iran Silkworm Breeding Co. Ltd. predicted on Monday that the company will produce 1,500-1,700 tons of cocoon and 230-250 tons of silk in the current Iranian year (to end March 20, 2008).
Talking to MNA, Mehdi Purhosseini, a company’s board of directors member said that except Mazandaran Province the cocoons of the other provinces are available in the market from past month.
He said that 100 percent of the products was purchased by the private or public sectors, adding that the private sector is accounted for 80 percent of the output.
