Uzbekistan yesterday promised to substantially increase the volume of bilateral trade with India by agreeing to directly source a large number of products from India. This is indicated in the Protocol of the Sixth Session of the Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Indian and Uzbekistan, which was signed here yesterday.

The Protocol was signed by minister of state for commerce, Mr Jairam Ramesh, and Mr Alisher Erkinovich Shaykhov, minister of foreign economic relations, investments and trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and co-chairman of the Commission, from the Uzbek side. The products agreed for direct sourcing include cotton, yarn, grain, flour, mineral fertilizers, polyethylene, liquid gas, raw silk and silk products, cable-conductor products, the products of chemical industry, copper and zinc.
