Sericulture Development and Culture Conference which was hosted by China Sericulture Information Network was held in Zhejiang province’s Chunan County from July 24 to 26.
Accordin to the statistics collected by Chinese Sericulture Information Network during the conference, the distribution volume of spring silkworm eggs nationwide (14 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Guangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong, Anhui, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Hubei, Henan, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou) reaches 9.05 million boxes, almost same as same period last year. And this year’s distribution volume is expected to reach 20 million boxes；The spring silkworm cocoon output is 343,700 tons, increased by 9.6 percent compared to same period last year. And this year’s silkworm cocoon output is forecast at 720,000 tons；China produces 13.15 million boxes of silkworm eggs in this spring, 5.5 percent higher than same period last year；The area under mulberry in rthe nationwide reaches 12.24 million mus. China's average purchasing price of spring silkworm cocoons drops dramatically to move within 850yuan and 1200 yuan per 50kg.
