The statistic from China Textile Chamber Of Commerce for import & export of textile disclosed that among the export textile quota for EU& US, 1/3 was unused in 2006. What’s more, only 3.8% quota for 666th category product-curtain is used.
The statistic also shows that the average consumption rate of the quota for 21 categories of textile is only 56%. The one of 200/301 category (cotton yarn, sewing thread), 619thcategory (long textile), 666th category (other synthesized fiber) is less than 50% while the one of quota for 10 categories of textile from US is only 72%, the one of 39th category product(spreading) less than 50%. Generally speaking, the wasting rate of textile quota from US reached 33%.
Why? Many reasons for above result: first, RMB appreciation added export; second, some enterprise turned to transit trade; third, before China Ministry of Commerce promulgated “The Proclaim for inviting public bidding of the quota for exporting textile to EU(US)”, the high quota price increase enterprise’s cost, which prevents enterprises to accept the orders.
