Jiaxing based Chinese Cocoon and Silk Exchange, established 15 years ago, has become the biggest cocoon and silk trading place in the world. Due to its large business volume, it has directly influenced international silk market and has dominated global silk prices.
Last year, its business volume was RMB23 billion, including RMB20 billion from internet business. According to estimates, business volume is expected to surpass RMB26 billion this year.
Out of total silk production in the world, about 75 percent is from China. Chinese Cocoon & Silk xchange has also started internet trading in English to capture global market.
