The figures from China Customs showed that the export value of silk products reached 7.171 billion US dollars during Jan. to Oct. 2006, up by 1.15 percent over same period last year. Among these, the export value of natural silk totaled 3.111 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.25 percent from the same period of prior year；The export value of chemical silk which amounted to 4.06 billion US dollars represented an increase of 1.84 per cent over same period last year.
Silk Filament & Raw Silk：
In the past ten months of 2006, silk filament & Raw Silk export reached 21600 tons, down by 12.6 percent year-on-year, with a value of 548 million US dollars, up 14.74 percent. The average unit price is 25.33 US dollars per kg, up 31.29 pcrcent.
The export volume of the two types showed some increase in Jan. and March, however, the remaining months experienced a sharp drop in export volume. The export volume in Oct. continued to drop by 11.23 percent points, which led to an overall drop in export volume in the past ten months of this year.
Silk Fabric：
In the past ten months of 2006, export of silk fabric was 5.59 billion meters, up by 3.69 per cent year-on-year, with a value of 4.707 billion US dollars, up 2.84 percent. The average unit price is 0.84 US dollar per meter, down 0.83 percent.
Among this, export of natural silk fabric was 212 million meters, down by 14.8 percent year-on-year, with a value of 647 million US dollars, up 9.54 percent. The average price is 3.21 meters, up 28.56 percent. Gray silk fabric export accounted for 68.28 percent of total export amount of natural silk fabric.
Silk Madeups：
The export value os silk madeups was 1.916 billion US dollars, down by 5.84 percent year-on-year, of which silk garment export value dropped by 6.57 percent to 1.511 US dollars.
Export markets：
The top eignt export markets are the USA, Hongkong, the UAE, India, Japan, Italy, Pakistan and Iran.
