Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 13 - Seventy percent of interviewee manufacturers in China plan to raise the export prices of their products in the next 12 months, 63 percent more than the number of the manufacturers holding such opinion in the second half of 2005, according to the "Report of China's Suppliers Survey" released lately by Global Sources Ltd.

The survey was conducted among 741 suppliers of consumption products, such as brake parts, kitchen appliances, cosmetics, doors, taps, health checkup instruments, sport balls and swimming suits.

Michael Kleist, a manager of the Global Sources Ltd., points out that many factors will drive the export prices up, including increasing prices of the metal and plastic raw materials, rising of the local labor costs, and the appreciation potential of the yuan. Nevertheless, 25 percent of the respondents predict that the export prices would rise by no more than 10 percent due to severe competition.

There are 61 percent of respondent suppliers taking North America and countries of European Union (EU) as their main export markets, but to avoid cutthroat competition, many suppliers show the tendency to develop other markets, with 29 percent saying they would target Africa, Middle East, and European countries but non-EU members, such as Russia.
