China’s first national silk resources and molecule improvement engineering center has been approved by the Ministry of Education and is being established at Southwest University in Chongqing. The silk resources and molecule improvement engineering center will gather all the excellent experts in the field of silk and silkworms, develop key common technologies, carry out research on the application of silkworm raising technology and promote the rapid conversion from basic research to industrial technology. The center will be located in Southwest University. The state will make an initial investment of RMB10 million and the center is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
