According to preliminary statistics of Zhejiang Agricultural Bureau, bred spring silkworm volume rose by 7 per cent to reach 920000 boxes while the silkworm cocoon output this spring rose by 2 per cent to reach 43200 tons. The average purchase price hit historic high to reach over 1230 yuan per 50kg, but lower than the purchase price of the late autumn cocoon last year. The data showed that the purchase price in Jinyun and Chunan counties where produce better quality cocoon reached 1450 yuan per 50kg.
