On July 26th, Guangxi sericultural working conference was held in the coastal city of Beihai. Mr. Lu Ruihao, vice-president of Guangxi Sericulture Technology Promotion Station, in a report at the meeting summarized the sericulture production situation during the first half of this year. According to his speech, this year the whole province makes fresh progress in the sericultural production. Till June 30, area of farmland under mulberry in the province has risen by 270 thousand mus of last year to reach 1680 thousand mus, up by 24.73 per cent；Distribution volume of silkworm egg has risen by 49.85 per cent to reach 2514.3 thousand boxes；Cocoon output has risen by 27.02 per cent to reach 63.3 thousand tons：Average purchase price of fresh cocoon has reached 22.12 yuan per kg. It is anticipated that the cocoon output of the first half of this year will exceed 75 thousand tons in the province.

The conference called for waging a vigorous drive to implement the policy to bring about a signal turn in the sericultural production.
