Latest figures showed that China’s natural silk fabric exports in September totaled at 22.41 million meters in quantity and 59.11 million US dollars in value, decreasing 11.96 per cent and 2.65 per cent respectively. Among them, what struck most was that gray fabric exports only reached 17.27 million meters in quantity and 40.41 million US dollars and dropped by 17.79 per cent and 7.38 per cent respectively. However, its average price sustained at a higher level of 2.64 US dollars per meter, up 10.57 per cent.
The decrease of silk fabric exports in September was mostly because of the hike of silk yarn price and the decline of silk fabric exports to India.
According to statistics of Customs, silk fabric exports to India in September reached 5.44 millions in quantity and 12.29 million US dollars, down 50.76 per cent and 39.75 percent. Among them, gray fabric exports totaled 5.23 millions in quantity and 11.54 million US dollars, down 52.2 per cent and 42.14 per cent.
Meantime, export price of natural silk fabric to India in September has hit record high at 2.26 US dollars per meter, up 22.38 per cent. And export price of natural gray fabric to India in September reached 2.21 US dollars per meter. up 21.06 per cent.
