The province shows a tight silkworm egg supply situation this spring, said Anhui Sericulture Technology Station here.

The silkworm egg output drop last year mainly caused by bad weather during last autumn and imperfect S/D mechanism led to the imbalance between silkworm egg supply and demand. As a result, the egg price is expected to reach over 40yuan per packet.

To correct the imbalance, agricultural expert advise farmers in the province to raise less spring silkworm seeds but increase summer and autumn cocoon production.
